Relapse Prevention Group

"NO MATTER WHAT" RELAPSE PREVENTION

According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, 40 to 60 percent of people in treatment for addiction will relapse. Setbacks are not just common. They’re often expected. Situations can arise in daily life that are triggers for substance use; a trigger is anything that makes you want to use drugs or alcohol again. Some triggers are external, while others are internal, such as feeling anxious or stressed.

"No Matter What" causes someone to relapse, we believe there is still hope. Relapse often results from old feelings or habits returning to the surface when you’re thrown back into the environment that brought on addiction in the first place. Relapse starts with your emotions and your mind long before it happens in your actions.

Michelle Case

"No Matter What" is designed to encourage the continuation of the recovery process by keeping group members active and engaged. Engaging in weekly group sessions increases accountability, interpersonal relationships and supports PAWS (post-acute withdrawal). We strongly recommend this group be attended in conjunction with your 12-step meeting of choice.

This group meets once per week and is run by Michelle Case, LGPC, NCC, CAC-AD, CCTS-I. Michelle also serves as the Director of Treatment at The Refuge. Her experience includes 9+ years in addiction treatment, and she gets that it is a marathon, not a sprint, preferring to focus on what leads an individual to relapse in the first place.
