Michelle is an LGPC, CAC-AD, NCC, and certified Level I Trauma professional with a passion for her work. She is the Director of Treatment Services for The Refuge and holds a Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Michelle brings over 10+ years of experience working in the addiction & mental health field. Michelle has experience working with adults of many ages with addiction, anxiety, depression, trauma, crisis intervention, and case management, and enjoys working with clients to enhance coping skills and self-regulation.

Enjoying helping those out of their darkest times into the light, Michelle uses a humanistic and straightforward approach to build a trusting rapport with her clients as well as to help guide them along their journey. She understands that this is a marathon, not a sprint, and is known to her colleagues to have an “abundance of patience and understanding, like a mom,” she is mindful to meet her clients where they are at in their journey to healing.

Michelle is holistic in her approach and incorporates CBT, motivational interviewing, humanistic, and mindfulness as well as meeting clients where they are at. Her style is client-centered, and she looks at the client as a whole. She loves to work together with the client, following the client's lead and empowering them to meet their goals and move forward in their growth.

 

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and children, and enjoys hobbies such as photography, reading, and spending time in nature.​
